Notes

You can make different colors to make a rainbow tray
Use vegan food coloring for a safer edible-option for your baby playtime
You can omit the sugar but the flavor will change and it won’t be as enjoyable to taste

Ingredients

  • •4 cans of chickpeas (only the liquid will be used)
  • •1/3 cup of icing sugar.
  • •. Food coloring (optional)

Instructions

  1. •Drain your chickpeas and reserve the liquid ( Aquafaba).
  2. •Keep in the fridge for about an hour or when it is super chilled.
  3. •Place the chilled chickpeas water and icing sugar in a mixing bowl to whip.
  4. • Add food coloring (optional)
  5. •Whip your Aquafaba to the desired thickness. It generally requires approximately 7-8 minutes to get to stiff peak form. It might take a longer time to reach stiff peak form, so don’t be discouraged.
  6. •. Serve on a shallow tray and allow your baby to play with it.

play Foam using Dish Soap

The first time I set up a foam activity for my baby I found a recipe online that called for dish soap and flour. It was puffy a alright! It look awesome for the photos but it was a total disaster! The moment he splashed foam in his face he rubbed his eyes with his hands full of foam. He eyes immediately stung, he cried aso much and I felt so guilty it was my fault!

Next time I tried to do just baby soap With food coloring and the foam was great for summer! Although it wasn’t as puffy it was still fun.

Play Foam Using Chickpea Juice

But this chickpea foam is even better because if you have a baby that still puts everything in their mouth, the last think you’re ant is them ratting baby shampoo! And the best part it is easy, it looks great and I made roasted chickpeas with the beans.

Print the recipe and keep it handy or pin this post and save it on your Pinterest to make this again and again!

This play foam is based on a popular vegan replacement for eggs called Aquafaba. Merengues that are vegan use this and so many other yummy dessert.

Combine the chickpeas juice, powdered sugar and 2-3 drops of food coloring.

For baby play you don’t have to add the extra sugar, but the taste will not be as good! So if your little one still mouths everything then a little sugar will make the experience last a little longer.

Mix for about 7-9 minutes to really get that foam growing! The more you mix the better.

I even had my toddler who is 2.5 help with pouring each ingredient and use the mixer

When is ready, serve on a sensory bin

Provide bowls and utensils to explore the foam. When playing with sensory bins I always use a high chair mat to catch any spills. You can do this activity in the bathtub to make clean up easier.
