Golden rose, the color of the dream I had
Not too long ago
A misty blue and the lilac too
A never to grow old

There you were under the tree of song
Sleeping so peacefully
In your hand a flower played
A waiting there for me

I have never
Laid eyes on you
Not like this before
This timeless day
A but you walked and ya ha
Once smiled my name
And you stole
My heart away
A stole my heart away little girl, yeah
All right

Golden rose the color of the dream I had
Not too long ago
Misty blue and lilac too
A never to grow old

Golden rose the color of the dream I had
Misty blue and lilac too
Golden rose the color of the dream I had
Misty blue and lilac too
Golden rose, gold and rose, gold and rose

It's only a dream
I'd love to tell somebody about this dream
The sky was filled with a thousand stars
While the sun kissed the mountains blue
And eleven moons played across the rainbows
Above me and you
Golden rose the color of the velvet walls surround us

It is just gorgeous... this dude could speak volumes and the idea of an undying love, a peaceful love, yielding beauty for another to enjoy is intoxicating. And yeah, when he kicks in the "I have never..." it gives me chills. I really wish this dude wasnt dead. Nobody can touch this song or 1983... just not possible. To me. And this is a song that describes a personal love. He wishes he could tell somebody about this dream he had - and isnt that the part about love that is so amazing? The fact that you have to live it to understand it? This song comes close though. Genius.

This, along with "One Rainy Wish" and "Bold As Love" may be lyrically the best Hendrix ever wrote about love.

There is no more powerful feeling that part about 45 seconds in or so when the line "I have never laid eyes on you" kicks in. THIS IS THE ORIGINAL POWER BALLAD....20 YEARS BEFORE THEY WERE HUGE!!!

This song reminds me of a time when I actually met a beautiful girl who was sitting under a tree at a concert, and sure enough, her smile "stole my heart away." I'm still chasing after her to get it back, but when I hear this song, I'm reminded of how lucky I am to have actually experienced to some degree the beauty described by these lyrics.

I completely agree with jersey73 on the "I have never laid eyes on you" part. Its so great. This and Castles Made of Sand are my favorite Hendrix songs. Oh, and Brian May, the guitarist from Queen does a good cover of this on one of his solo albums. It's a really good cover, but of course not as good as the original.

I knew a girl Alischa who I spent a week with in a beach house. One of the moments that most stands out with her was on a rainy day. The only rainy day in my whole vacation.

Then there was my first date with my faveh g/f that also took place on a rainy day.

So this song is very personal for me because I never saw either one of them again.

meeting the girl of my dreams. it was the first day of school this year, and i sat down in my chemistry class, and she sat right next to me. i had only seen her once before, and i knew she already had a bf.

so as she was sitting in class, "so peacefully" she looked right at me in the eyes and stared. thats when the:I have neverLaid eyes on youNot beforeThis timeless dayBut you woke and whoaSmiled my nameAnd you stoleMy heart awayA stole my heart away little girl, yeahAll right !comes into play. from that day forward, we became best friends and i fell in love with her. but thats when she "stole my heart away" because she got mad at me, stopped talking to me, and i tried to move on and find another girl, but she had my heart.

l still love you Aleisha Ravsten!!! of op

    "Misty blue and lilac too"

That line has to be one of the most beautiful lyrical rhymes of all time, or at least it is to me.

Bron-Y-Aur Stomp Led Zeppelin This is about bronies. They communicate by stomping. Mountain Song Jane's Addiction Jane's Addiction vocalist Perry Farrell gives Adam Reader some heartfelt insight into Jane’s Addiction's hard rock manifesto "Mountain Song", which was the second single from their revolutionary album Nothing's Shocking. Mountain song was first recorded in 1986 and appeared on the soundtrack to the film Dudes starring Jon Cryer. The version on Nothing's Shocking was re-recorded in 1988. "'Mountain Song' was actually about... I hate to say it but... drugs. Climbing this mountain and getting as high as you can, and then coming down that mountain," reveals Farrell. "What it feels to descend from the mountain top... not easy at all. The ascension is tough but exhilarating. Getting down is... it's a real bummer. Drugs is not for everybody obviously. For me, I wanted to experience the heights, and the lows come along with it.""There's a part - 'Cash in now honey, cash in Miss Smith.' Miss Smith is my Mother; our last name was Smith. Cashing in when she cashed in her life. So... she decided that, to her... at that time, she was desperate. Life wasn't worth it for her, that was her opinion. Some people think, never take your life, and some people find that their life isn't worth living. She was in love with my Dad, and my Dad was not faithful to her, and it broke her heart. She was very desperate and she did something that I know she regrets."
